A private access stairway leads from the back lawn to an isolated beach with the best fishing on Whidbey. This home is conveniently located between Clinton and Keystone ferries; just minutes from South Whidbey State Park, historic Greenbank Farms, and Lake Hancock Nature Reserve; Fort Casey and the Keystone Port Townsend Ferry; and the historic Coupeville Wharf. A history of the home from the owner:

"The oceanfront cottage and boathouse were completed in 2010 on approximately two acres of raw ground. The beach access stairs were designed and constructed by Pete Brockman of Kingston, WA, and completed in 2011 after successfully passing rigorous environmental impact studies.

"My wife, Kristy, and I had been visiting Whidbey Island on vacations for years. Although we live in Salt Lake City, we both have family in the Pacific Northwest and we love the sea and its attractions. When I first saw the view from this undeveloped property, its large trees and potential for beach access, I was determined to build our vacation home here.

"We designed the home in a maritime craftsman style to fit its settings, including an octagonal copula reminiscent of a lighthouse. There are almost more windows than wall area, and the floor plan is open toward the front view area to combine kitchen, dining, and living areas to encourage family interaction. The cottage has a magnificent natural granite stone fireplace which is designed to be able to efficiently heat the entire house if we opt to use wood instead of propane. There is a 10 KW emergency generator which provides reliable energy in the event of power outages (which are not uncommon to Whidbey Island). In honor of my Finnish ancestry, there is also a redwood paneled sauna which can be used to take the chill off after a brisk day on the beach.

"Kristy is a writer, and finds the island atmosphere particularly conducive to concentration, inspiration, and creativity. My mother-in-law paints, and my father-in-law is a professional photographer. They both feel the same inspiration when there.

"I personally feel that this home is so unique in its character and beautiful surroundings, that I want to share it with others who appreciate its qualities."
